First Presbyterian welcomes you and your children. We earnestly strive to develop age-appropriate programs, classes and enrichment to assist you in helping your children learn about, know and to develop relationship with our Lord. Children also learn by seeing you, watching you in your walk with the Lord and in your worship of Him. Your babies are lovingly cared for in our nursery. This care, concern and guidance continues with age-appropriate lessons and activities through kindergarten and the elementary school years, preparing your children for their next steps in our middle and high school programs. (See "Your Teenagers" for more information on those programs.)
4 Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one.[a] 5 Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. 6 These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. 7 Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. 8 Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. 9 Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates.
Deuteronomy 6:4-9
We desire to see whole families worshiping the Lord and growing as disciples, where parents and grandparents take major roles in teaching and leading our children to have a loving relationshop with Jesus.
Ages through 5 Years
Your younger children will be excellently cared by our devoted staff. While snacks and drinks are provided for your children, please bring any other necessary items they might need.
Ages 6 & Up
Table Talk Sunday School
This class spans across every age. We gather around tables, “family style” in the Fellowship Hall, and we discuss the sermon passage for the morning. We have a cross-section of children, parents, empty nesters, grandparents, and young adults. We are seeing the power of a child’s questions, curiosity, and interpretation. We are seeing the power of mutual affirmation across families. It is developing a sense of community. This reveals the Bible as central in our formation, yet it’s read in diverse community.

WHAT TO EXPECT ON SUNDAYS
FIRST PRESBYTERIAN KIDS
Children birth through five years old will be in the west wing of the church building. A church usher will be happy to direct you. The nursery and classrooms have signs indicating the age groups.
OLDER CHILDERN ACCOMPANY YOU TO SERVICES
Your children are precious to First Presbyterian Church! We value children of all ages as an integral part of our family of faith, and we recognize that children best learn to worship by worshipping. So, children older than five years are included in our worship services. In order to help your young children engage with the scripture passage, worship bags containing coloring pages, crayons and quiet activities are available from the ushers. (Please return bags at the conclusion of the service.)
WHO TAKES CARE OF THE LITTLE
CHILDREN?
Marrie Dingle
Nursery Director
Marrie has been First Presbyterian’s Nursery Director for 20 years. She is continuing a legacy from her mother who was Nursery Director before her! Marrie says that being Nursery Director at First Presbyterian is more than just a job, that it’s an honor to work at First Presbyterian. She enjoys watching children grow up and that caring for them and helping them along is a joy. Your children will have the very best care while your family is at First Presbyterian Church.
Marrie is a native of Moncks Corner having attended Berkeley High School, where she also has worked for over 25 years as bookkeeper. She also attended the former Nelson Computer College in Charleston. Marrie is a member of Greater Emanuel AME Church in Moncks Corner. She loves following sports, especially the Berkeley High School Stags!
Our nursery is further staffed by Olympia Ellington, Marrie’s assistant, and two subs, Jackie Dawson and Jean Fennick. (Olympia is Marrie’s first cousin and Jackie is her sister! Keeping it all in the family! Jean is also a good friend of Marrie’s.)
Your children ages up through five years will participate in age appropriate arts and crafts, games, and learning. Snacks and drinks are also provided.
