FIRST PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH
REACHING OUT IN MANY WAYS
BERKELEY HABITAT FOR HUMANITY
As an “Apostle Build” church, First Presbyterian Church is committed to supporting the work of Habitat for Humanity in Moncks Corner through financial contributions and work days.
Habitat News!
Habitat has asked us to partner with their Collegiate Challenge program again this year.
Habitat’s Collegiate Challenge program provides year-round alter-native school break volunteer opportunities to college students across the United States. College students have chosen to travel to Moncks Corner to spend their spring break serving in our community.
DOORS TO FREEDOM
Doors to Freedom is a nonprofit organization which provides a safe place for female survivors of sex trafficking to experience a transformed life.
HANDS OF CHRIST
As a distribution site for this regional back-to-school program, we provide elementary-aged children in need with school clothes and supplies each fall. See http://handsofchrist.net for more information.
HOPE REPAIR
On the second Saturday of each month, we partner with several other Berkeley County churches offering home repair in order to keep families safe, dry, and warm.
OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD
Each summer and fall we fill shoe boxes with small toys, books, and school supplies, sending the boxes as Christmas gifts for children in third world countries.
RED CROSS BLOOD DRIVE
Four times a year, volunteers from First Presbyterian Church organize a blood drive with the American Red Cross.
THORNWELL HOME FOR CHILDREN
Coming from a variety of difficult situations, the children residing at Thornwell crave support and encouragement, which we seek to provide through cards, gifts, and monetary donations to our “adopted” child.
CARRIE KNIGHT PRAYERS & SQUARES QUILT CLUB
Women who love to sew and quilt gather weekly to handcraft lap quilts for those who are ill. What makes the quilts more special than the love that goes into them with every stitch, is the yarns attached to them. The quilts are put on display at the church and people are encouraged to tie a knot in the yarns and say a prayer for the recipient of the quilt.
FOOD PANTRY
Maintaining a well-stocked pantry allows us to share food staples with our neighbors in need. Distribution is by referrals from Trident United Way.
HELPING HANDS
In the event of hospitalization or surgery, or a birth or a death in the family, volunteer teams prepare and deliver meals as a way of demonstrating compassion and care.
SHOEBOXES FOR SOLDIERS
Four times a year we send care packages to friends and family who are currently on active duty with the military.
VISITATION COMMITTEE
The Visitation Committee is dedicated to showing compassion to church and community members who are sick, bereaved, or in distress by sending cards, delivering meals, and visiting.
FOOTBALL BREAKFASTS
First Presbyterian and area churches take turns hosting the Berkeley High School football team for Friday morning breakfasts here at FPC during the regular season.
